Sing In Our Choir!

With glad hearts and great expectations, the Music Director Search Committee is pleased to announce the appointment of Carolyn P. Sweet as our new Music Director.

There are many good things we could say about Carolyn, but three things stick out: her love of playing the organ, her many years as a professional church musician and the way that her work, witness and values align with the values and mission of KUUC.

Carolyn Sweet has been serving as a church musician, organist and director of small ensembles of vocalists and instrumentalists, for 26 years. Although her training has led to specialization in sacred organ and early keyboard music, she has played in numerous other styles including jazz, pop, and rock/funk on a variety of instruments. Carolyn studied Organ for 2 ½ years on a full scholarship at Oberlin Conservatory before turning her attention toward intersectional politics and philosophy.

In another facet of her professional life, Carolyn serves as a community economic development specialist in the Monadnock region and currently focuses on local economy, food systems, and downtown development; often specifically addressing the violence of poverty within each sector. She coordinates the Monadnock Understands Childhood Hunger Coalition and is the director/collaborative facilitator for the newly launched Keene First Friday Art Hop.

Carolyn loves quiet time in nature, surrounded by gardens, berries, and mountains.   We hope that you are as happy to hear this news as we are to share it.

 An Invitation from the Choir

Our KUUC Choir is looking forward to preparing anthems and songs to sing for upcoming services. We invite and encourage new folks to join us or come and try us out. Our choir members are both readers and non-readers who enjoy singing. The ability to match pitches is most helpful. We rehearse on Thursday evenings in the parish hall from 7:30-9:00 pm and sing at two Sunday services each month.   Please contact Betty Forrest at 603-762-0636 or if you have any questions.
